    Blue Floor 1990 is a screenprint by Roy Lichtenstein of a quotidian domestic interior, which he later re-rendered in his popular Wallpaper with Blue Floor Interior, 1992 artwork.
    In Blue Floor, the artist first explores everyday domestic scenes to critique the appearance driven American society of the time: commenting on a culture driven by creating the perfect illusion of domestic bliss, Blue Floor depicts a spacious, luxury interior scene. For these interior inspired prints, Lichtenstein was influenced by furniture advertisements and the yellow pages adverts of the time.
    Blue Floor depicts an ordinary interior scene: a sofa, side table, lamp and mirror make up the central image. Lichtenstein takes these everyday consumerist items, rendering them in bold blue with delineated graphic lines, large swathes of ben day dots, and reflections through a mirror. But using the floor length mirror to reflect and distort the viewer’s perspective, Lichtenstein creates a mirage that suggests, perhaps all is not so blissful in this homely scene as first perceived.
