    Peace Through Chemistry IV is an intricate composition by Lichtenstein which is illustrative of the artist’s sophisticated visual language, in which he fuses the precision of fine art with the syntax of material culture.  
    In continuity with the other prints of this five part series, Peace Through Chemistry, this artwork showcases a horizontal rectangle divided into three panels, in which Lichtenstein elevates his pop art form into a triptych composition. Each third tells its own narrative: a linear story from nature’s own through the industrial wheel to the scientific conclusion. Lichtenstein uses his pop art signatures; geometric shapes, graphic outlines, bold colours and ben day dots to critique how science is overpowering humanity in a post industrial age. 
    The immediacy of the artwork comes to the surface: in Peace Through Chemistry IV the artist uses a predominantly monochrome colour palette punctuated with bold blue and yellow tones, this print is an abstracted version of the other compositions from the same series.
