This assemblage consists of stacked metal carts of varying sizes, topped with a skull. Hockney employed advanced camera technology to photograph each figure and object from multiple angles, allowing him to digitally alter and stitch the images into a carefully constructed, fictional scene. The viewers depicted are friends and colleagues—many recurring throughout his other works—each shown from subtly shifted perspectives that highlight the remarkable capacities of the camera.Provenance
