Keith Haring International Volunteer Day (Littman p.93)
Meaning & History"Art is nothing if you don't reach every segment of the people."
International Volunteer Day is a lithograph produced by Keith Haring in 1988 for the new United Nations issue of postage stamps in 1988. The UN devoted the day to its volunteers on which the organisation heavily relies.
As a social and political activist, whose work tackled themes from apartheid to the crack epidemic to the AIDs crisis, Haring would have felt he had much in common with the UN’s mission to maintain international peace and security.
