    Wind (1973) is a signed lithograph from The Weather Series by David Hockney. Created during Hockney’s time in Los Angeles, the series explores atmospheric conditions through experimental printmaking techniques. Many of the works were produced at the renowned print workshop Gemini G.E.L., where Hockney collaborated with leading printers to expand the possibilities of lithography and screenprinting. On closer inspection, these scattered pages appear to reproduce other prints from The Weather Series, including Sun, Snow, Mist, and Rain, subtly referencing the process of printmaking and the circulation of images. The composition reflects Hockney’s interest in capturing “the weather drawn, not just the weather itself,” transforming the invisible movement of air into visible form. The swirling papers also echo the dynamic compositions of Katsushika Hokusai, whose woodblock prints inspired Hockney’s exploration of motion and atmosphere.
