    In 30th January 2021, The First One, David Hockney presents a simple yet carefully observed still life arrangement. A white ceramic vase with a slightly slanted rim holds a sparse selection of flowers, including pink and white tulip buds among green stems and leaves. The vase rests on a blue gingham tablecloth, where a shadow is suggested through dark blue smudging and dotted marks that echo the shapes of the blooms.
