The Pop Artist Andy Warhol created Clam Chowder as part of his 1969 Campbell’s Soup II portfolio. This new and improved portfolio offered an advancement from his original soup can portfolio, the colours are brighter, the logos are bolder, and the technique is more refined. Warhol combines the conventional and the mundane to create a masterpiece, provoking us to reconsider what can be considered art.

The incorporation of advertisements and consumer culture icons into the artwork is a crucial component that contributes to Pop Art's distinctiveness and coherence as an artistic movement. This gave commonplace advertising material—like the Campbell's soup logo—the prestige of "high" art, turning it from "low" art into something famous. Warhol had a deep appreciation for the Campbell's Soup logo—possibly to the point of obsession. Its long success was aided by the design, which remained unaltered for years. As a result, the soup cans were given the Warhol treatment, making them among of the first items to experience this creative Pop Art makeover.

Andy Warhol began his career as a graphic artist before rising to fame as a Pop Art superstar. Warhol employed his creative abilities to produce commercials for clothing and shoe brands during the 1950s. His creative approach was permanently impacted by his early exposure to the art of capitalism. It's not surprising, considering his experience designing daring visual marketing campaigns, that Warhol found inspiration in the boisterous, eye-catching, and striking shape of the Campbell's soup can. The Campbell's Soup artworks by Warhol perfectly capture his aesthetic sensibility and his fixation with capitalism, mass consumption, and hypnotising advertising strategies. All of these turn into recognised themes in his soup can series and establish a fundamental idea in Warhol's work: art and ordinary goods are inextricably linked.

This gave commonplace advertising material—like the Campbell's soup logo—the prestige of "high" art, turning it from "low" art into something famous
