Andy Warhol's Gems  portfolio comprises of four screenprints released by the artistl in 1978, from a limited edition of twenty. Each print is unique and features exquisite gemstones like rubies, emeralds, and tourmalines.

This print depicts two rubies, depicted a deep red. Warhol has masterfully added texture and depth to each gem through his use of black, sketch like lines, adding detail to the otherwise simplistic print. Warhol has utilised a plain yellow and white background, amongst some roughly drawn shadows, which pushes all the focus onto the glimmering gems. 

As symbols of opulence, Warhol's Gems explore his recurring themes of glamour, fame, and wealth through the lens of still life. The prints are relatively large, and Warhol employs a combination of sketching and collage techniques to give the gemstones a sense of real depth.
