    The relatively large prints feature a mix of sketching and collage techniques, creating a vivid sense of depth in the gemstones.

    Andy Warhol's Gems  portfolio comprises of four screenprints released by the artistl in 1978, from a limited edition of twenty. Each print is unique and showcases stunning gemstones such as rubies, emeralds, and tourmalines.

    This signed screenprint depicts a large green emerald in the centre of the composition. Warhol’s use of colour adds a sense of realism to the gem through his ability to convey the movement of light through the gem. This realism contrasts with the background, which is made of a collection of pink and orange colour blocks, set against a white background. 

    Warhol's Gems use opulent gemstones to explore his recurring themes of glamour, fame, and wealth through still life. The relatively large prints feature a mix of sketching and collage techniques, creating a vivid sense of depth in the gemstones.
