We can’t quite believe it but Pendragon has been working with Andipa for over 15 years of the 28 years of being in business as a London gallery and museum picture framer.
Back in the mid-nineties, the founder, Keith Andrews, set up Pendragon in the heart of Shoreditch. At that time the East End of London was full of artist’s studios, warehouse exhibitions, raves and graffiti had taken over the streets. It seemed like there was a new piece by Banksy appearing in the area every week and so the start of framing works by Banksy, along with all sorts of art, began.
So when Pendragon started to frame for Andipa with their incredible catalogue of contemporary art including works by Banksy, Damien Hirst and Keith Haring for example it was the beginning of a great working relationship. As Pendragon and Andipa share common ground when it comes to a general respect for each other’s expertise in their field and the intention of offering high levels of service and professionalism with the client and the supplier.
At Pendragon great care is taken in selecting the kind of materials that are used with conservation practise and attention to detail employed at every stage. Each frame is designed and hand made in consideration with each individual artwork. All wood is FSC standard meaning that it’s from a certified responsible forestry and so hard woods can be used which can give a maximum durability to the life of the frame. This helps with the overall protection of the artwork and value for the cost of the framing. As in our joining workshop we endeavour to use products with an ethical and responsible criteria. So we use water based paints and finishes and recycle as much of our waste as we can.
Quality of the framing is the heartbeat at Pendragon Frames with the artwork and client at the centre of it all. The successful outcome in Pendragon’s framing is a combination of getting the aesthetic right in parallel with the importance of the conservation and so the preservation of the painting, print, photograph, textile or sculpture.
Keith, Managing Director and creative lead agrees with Acoris when he says,
‘ After 28 years of being in business Acoris is entirely right in saying that relationships are all important. I suppose this begins with the key element which is trust. Trust in solutions achieved together, deadlines achieved and trust in our shared knowledge of conservation and the aesthetic’
Andipa have a refined client who value the bespoke nature of framing solutions that Pendragon can offer. As a company that manufactures by hand it’s own frames, based in London, Pendragon can meet the high, conservation standards that is required to frame the Banksy prints, original Warhol screenprints and original Keith Haring works , for example, that are for sale in the Andipa Gallery.
We look forward in continuing to work together in the future. For enquiries please email Keith or Gabriel sales@pendragonframes.com, telephone 0207 729 0608 or visit
