    Yosemite Suite No.7 is an Ipad drawing printed on paper from David Hockney’s groundbreaking 2010 Yosemite Suite series all created via his new Apple Ipad. (launched that year).
    Yosemite Suite No.7 is a more abstracted depiction of Hockney’s much loved Californian nature spot, Yosemite National Park, than most of the artworks in the series. He depicts woodland through a line of trees, through which we can see hills, grassland and background skies.
    Hockney utilises a rich yet muted colour palette in Yosemite Suite No.7, deep green, black and burnt orange create a lively rendering of the Yosemite National Park so beloved by the artist. In Yosemite Suite No.7, the viewers gaze is drawn to the fragmented composition, the artist never intends to hide the splotches, dots and squiggles of his digital depiction. Through his arrangement of graphic lines and dots, Hockney creates a textural depth and dimension to the image that gives a sense of multiple perspectives with each glance.
    Hockney’s unique eye and adaptability as an artist is highlighted in the way he creates images that feel both familiar and fantastical at once, all through a two-dimensional digital medium.
