Untitled is a lithograph created by Haring in 1986 as part of a portfolio dedicated to prolific dancer and choreographer, Bill T Jones.
In a suitable tribute to the boundary-breaking dancer, Haring’s figure in Untitled has one head and six legs, like a spider. However rather than resembling an insect, the artist’s limbs likely point to Jones’ intertwining improvisations and swift movement.
Haring had collaborated with Jones in Haring two years prior in 1984 to create some of his most visually arresting work. Haring painted the entirety of Jones’ body, a process that lasted over four hours.
