Banksy's Barely Legal Box Set included Grannies, Applause, Sale Ends and Festival.
Satirical, playful and provocative Trolley Hunters by Banksy first appeared in 2006 the artist’s Los Angeles exhibition titled “Barely Legal” which took place in an LA industrial estate Released alongside a collection of prints known as the Barely Legal Box Set other works that appeared at the time include Grannies, Applause, Sale Ends and Festival.
The piece depicts modern man and is a comment on our inability to make ends meet. No longer are we the fine tuned hunter gatherers of times gone by but passive, incapable and removed from the very world which shaped us. In the print we can see three cavemen, representing nature, with basic spears confronted with three supermarket trolleys that can be seen as modernity. The juxtaposition between modernity and nature is driven home in a lighthearted take by the artist as he plays with the expectations of the viewer.Capitalism is a recurring theme in Banksy’s works and the infamous street artist holds no bars when approaching the subject. Works such as the Di-Faced Tenners and Very Little Helps highlight the dangers of powerful corporations and inequality. Explore other Banksy prints for sale.
