    Yosemite Suite No.20 is a signed Ipad drawing turned digital print from David Hockney’s pioneering Yosemite Suite series, all executed on an Apple Ipad. It’s important to remember that these drawings of the grand splendour of the Yosemite National Park were created on a digital screen with the possibility of being scaled up to around eight feet in reality: the vector-based images would have become distorted and invisible if created physically to that scale.
    The scene depicting the vast undulating mountains of the Sierra Nevada parkland, includes a sparse tree that appears to be one of the white fir trees, recognisable from the Yosemite National Park.
    The image is created using a tonal colour palette, multiple shades of green and blue, which built up create layers and textures to the image: it is ironic that it is through the Ipad digital medium that Hockney can create this shading and bring the viewer closer to the drawing process than by hand.
