    A Bigger Book, 2017, is, arguably, the most expansive collation of David Hockney’s oeuvre over a period of more than 60 years as (one of) the greatest artist(s) of the 20th and 21st century. Comprised in a super-sized SUMO monograph, a collector’s edition that includes more than 450 of his most compelling artworks, accompanying the book launch was four artworks: Untitled 516, Untitled 329, Untitled 468, Untitled 346.

    Hockney said of the A Bigger Book; “It is an autobiography in pictures, made by a person who loves pictures and makes them.’ The images selected over a period of a year by the artist and co-editor, Hans Werner Holzwarth take viewers on a purely visual trip of 498 full colour pages through his student days at Bradford School of Art, London’s Swinging Sixties, the landscape of his Yorkshire hometown, to the vibrant 70’s California swimming pools and even his recent exploration of technology through Ipad drawings and videos.
     
    Each of the four artworks is part of an edition of 250 and comes with a colourful stand created by contemporary British artist, Marc Newson. Each page of A Bigger Book unfolds with vibrancy in a dramatic blaze of blues, pinks, greens, oranges compelling the reader to turn the page for an extraordinary and immersive feeling of the surrounding environment. Expect his major paintings, A Bigger Splash, Bigger Trees near Water and Bigger Grand Canyon alongside amongst others prints, collages and Ipad drawings.
     
    The majesty of Hockney’s oeuvre is reflected in the precision and scale of A Bigger Book, described by Hockney himself as his ‘definitive visual autobiography.’
