    Andy Warhol’s Shadows is one of his most abstract and lesser-known works, differing significantly from the pop culture icons he's most famous for, like Marilyn Monroe or Campbell's Soup Cans. Created in 1978-1979, Shadows is from a portfolio of screen-printed canvases, designed to be displayed together as an installation rather than as individual works. The series offers an intriguing blend of abstraction, repetition, and colour experimentation, revealing new dimensions of Warhol’s artistic practice.

    Though Shadows seems simpler than Warhol’s other works, it raises deep philosophical questions about presence and absence, visibility and invisibility, form and void. Shadows, by their nature, are intangible, fleeting, and dependent on the object casting them. Warhol's choice to highlight them in such a large series could be interpreted as a commentary on the ephemeral and transient nature of existence.
