This particular work is a unique variable colourway outside the edition and trial proofs. We are grateful to Christie's for confirming receipt of verification from the Warhol Foundation the work matches their records.

This work is outside the edition of 190 with further 30 AP's (artist proofs), 5 PP's (printers proofs), 5 EP's (exhibition proofs), 10 HC's (hors commerce - not for sale), 10 numbered in Roman numerals, 1 BAT (good to print), and 30 TP's (each a unique trial proof). From the portfolio of 10 screenprints.

Andy Warhol’s Apple screenprint, created in 1985 as part of his celebrated Ads Series, exemplifies his genius for transforming everyday consumer imagery into fine art. This particular print is a colourway outside the standard edition, not a trial proof, making it a distinct and exceptional example from the series.

In Apple, Warhol captures the intersection of technology, advertising, and cultural influence at the dawn of the digital age. The work features the iconic rainbow Apple Macintosh logo, the bitten apple. reimagined through Warhol’s unmistakable lens. His bold, hand-drawn outlines and vibrant, custom hues elevate the logo into a radiant symbol of innovation and aspiration. The crayon-like texture of the background introduces a sense of playfulness, while the layering of multiple screens and pigments creates a rich, tactile depth that enhances the print’s visual energy.

The Ads Series reinterprets some of the most recognisable trademarks of the 20th century, Apple explores how brands shape identity and desire in a consumer-driven world. Through this unique work, Warhol celebrates and critiques the seductive power of advertising, transforming a corporate emblem into a timeless icon of modern culture.
