    Reflections on Hair is one of Lichtenstein’s more abstract prints in the Reflection series he created between 1988-90. Unlike other artworks in the series such as Reflections on Crash and Reflections on Conversation, the central image isn’t just partially obscured by reflective streaks but here is not visible at all. The viewer is presented with minimal details: a flash of bright blonde locks and a few elegant fingers emboldened by a black graphic outline and red ben day dots. It is boldly characteristic of all Lichtenstein’s pop art signatures: graphic imagery that in this print incorporates multimedia and self references his own Mirror paintings of the 70’s, and yet now Lichtenstein masterfully manipulates our perspective on this comic book female figure, through a refracted lens. 
    Lichtenstein’s careful composition sits this anonymous lead character within the centre framework: crafted mainly through hand stencilling, bold red ben day dots, stripes and even new reflective foil that adds metallic texture to the artwork. Reflections on Hair is slashed with harsh pictorial lines for dramatic impact, skewing the traditional idea of character representation. The viewer is left to project our own narrative onto this mirrored composition; we can find elements of our own interior selves within Lichtenstein’s comic book heroines which keeps the viewer engaging in dialogue with this art piece.
