    "Wallpaper and Blue Floor Interior is less conceptual than many other of Lichtenstein’s interior scene prints but still features Lichtenstein’s pop art characteristics: contrasting contouring, regimented patterns, and block colouring."

     

    Wallpaper with Blue Floor interior is a screenprint of 300 Editions on waterleaf paper, in colours, in which Lichtenstein depicts a quotidian domestic scene to satire the American consumerist culture and its obsession with portraying a sense of everyday domestic perfection.
    In Wallpaper with Blue Floor Interior, unlike some of Lichtenstein’s other later works of the 80's and 90's, modern luxury and comfort do harmoniously co-exist: the artist contrasts bright blues and whites in a playful, harmonic style as if to highlight the monotony of everyday life. There is a simplicity and rawness to the layout and print style that differs from the majority of Lichtenstein’s oeuvre, yet he quietly self-references his earlier motifs: the Rain Forest artwork on the back wall, the bright lamps and the reflective mirror through which we can view this idealised yet ordinary interior scene.
