    Disintegration (1963) is one of the later etchings in A Rake’s Progress, the influential sixteen-print series by David Hockney. Inspired by the eighteenth-century narrative cycle created by William Hogarth, Hockney reinterprets the story through the perspective of a young artist discovering New York in the early 1960s. The series follows the emotional journey of Hockney’s semi-autobiographical ‘Rake’ figure, exploring themes of identity, freedom, and alienation.
