    Andy Warhol’s Shadows, created in 1978-9, is a complex, multi-layered screenprint that diverges from his more iconic work while still reflecting his signature interests in repetition, abstraction, and colour. This screenprint is largely abstract, focusing on variations of shadowy forms rather than specific objects or figures. Though Shadows seems simpler than Warhol’s other works, it raises deep philosophical questions about presence and absence, visibility and invisibility, form and void. Shadows, by their nature, are intangible, fleeting, and dependent on the object casting them. Warhol's choice to highlight them in such a large series could be interpreted as a commentary on the ephemeral and transient nature of existence.
